Accessibility in the Kongress Palais

We want our visitors to enjoy their stay with us and keep fond memories of it. We are particularly keen to ensure that people with disabilities can also enjoy an all-round pleasant event experience without any obstacles or restrictions. That is why we have summarized all the information you need for a barrier-free visit to the Kongress Palais below.

Our trained Protex service staff will be happy to help you on site. You can recognize the staff by their clothing, which is marked with the company name "Protex".

There are two tram/tram stops directly at the main entrances to the Kongress Palais:

  • The bus stop "Kongress Palais/Stadthalle" is located at the main entrance Holger-Börner-Platz of the Historisches Haus
  • The "Aschrottstraße" stop is located at the main entrance to the colonnade wingAschrottplatz).

Both stations are equipped with a tactile floor guidance system and an acoustic information station.

Entrance C at the Historisches Haus and Entrance I at the Kolonnadenflügel are ground-level, disabled-accessible entrances. There are five designated special parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of Entrance C in "Kattenstraße".

Barrier-free mobility in Kassel

Public transportation in Kassel is largely barrier-free: 95 percent of the 102 streetcar and bus stops in Kassel are low-floor accessible. This puts Kassel at the top of the league in Germany.

Line 4 (Kaufungen/Papierfabrik/Helsa) runs from the Kongress Palais to the city center from the main entrance at Holger-Börner-Platz and line 8 (towards Kaufungen/Papierfabrik) from the main entrance at Aschrottplatz.

Travel for all: Certified accessibility at the Kongress Palais

In 2017, the Kassel Kongress Palais was awarded the "Travel for All" certificate for certified accessibility for the first time. It confirms that Kassel's central event venue offers people with disabilities easy access and clear orientation. Further information and the full test reports can be found at www.reisen-fuer-alle.de.

Barrier-free on all levels

Your access to the building

Two wheelchair-accessible, ground-level entrances provide barrier-free access to the Kongress Palais. They are marked and therefore easy to find.

Accessibility of the event rooms

In the building itself, all levels and thus all event rooms are accessible with three elevators.

Clear orientation

Our digital wayfinding system and visual signage make it easy for you to find your way around the building. Assistance dogs are also allowed in the Kongress Palais.

Walking aids

At cultural events, our security staff will stow your walking aid in a fireproof and easily accessible place as soon as you have taken your seat.

Hearing aids

Receivers with induction loops can be borrowed for events in the Festsaal or Blauer Saal. Simply ask our checkroom staff about this.

Leaving the building in an emergency

All levels except the gallery level in the Festsaal can be exited barrier-free without an elevator in an emergency. Our trained service staff from Protex will support you in the event of an evacuation. In addition, visual and acoustic alerts are provided in the event of an emergency.

Sanitary facilities

There are five disabled toilets in the Kongress Palais, which are marked accordingly. Two of them are located in the Historisches Haus, two more in the Kolonnadenflügel and one in the Aschrottflügel.

"Is Luisa here?": Here at the Kongress Palais, people who feel harassed, threatened or sexually harassed at an event can also ask our trained service staff this question and request help. In addition to the Kongress Palais team, the employees of our service partners H4 Hotel and Protex as well as the medical service are also familiar with this offer and will discreetly help the person concerned out of the unpleasant situation.

Free WLAN

The Kongress Palais offers all visitors and participants of concerts and cultural events the free use of a WLAN within the Kongress Palais. Find out more about the terms of use here.
